What We Do?
- Operating as citizen’s voice on the tax system.
- Standing up for taxpayer’s rights vis-à-vis any unconstitutional or confiscatory taxation.
- Supporting the tax administration against pressure groups, interest groups – both overt and covert – on specific one-off issues or general matters of tax policy and tax administration
- Taking active positions on various tax policy options exercised by the government year-round.
- Creating linkages with other regional and international organizations and networks dealing with tax systems – particularly in developing countries.
- Coordinating with provincial revenue authorities for harmonization of tax laws, wherever possible, and making efforts for increasing ease of doing business in Pakistan.
- Publicly airing the civil society aspirations on various structural issues of the tax system (including the provincial ones) and raising rule-based voice.
- Undertaking independent research on various issues relating to tax system on its own motion, on request by the Government, various chambers of commerce & industry, and Pakistan’s development partners.
- Pleading before superior courts on matters pertaining to overall tax policy design, enforcement of law and the state of revenues.
- Working specifically for the improvement of the fiscal justice system by improving the quality and quantity of the manpower at critical nodes in the system.
